Pseudopercis numida

Commercially, namorado sandperch is on the list of highly prized marine fish. The white flesh has a pleasant flavor and few bones. It can be prepared in several ways: simmered in a broth with vegetables, seasonings and wine; stewed; and roasted, stuffed or not. Moreover, it is one of the most popular fish to prepare moqueca, the Brazilian version of fish stew. It is more commonly found in the Southeast best times for consumption run from March to May, and from September to November. It can be easily confused with tile fish (Lopholatilus villarii), which has similar characteristics, but is commercially less valuable.
