Phaseolus vulgaris
It is basically a symbol of Rio de Janeiro, where it appears next to rice on every-day dishes, and in the traditional local version of Feijoada (Brazilian beans and meat stew). With small and very creamy beans, it is also used in soups, broths and salads. Somewhat popular also in Espírito Santo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
